Hello everyone!
HuskerGI reporting for duty!
I've been playing WWIIOL for a total time of 15+ years (probably longer because time flies and I've had two accounts over that span). The last 5 years I've been off and on and mostly free play as life has been busy. I was a member of another squad that use to have 60+ members and I gave a good majority of my extra time (and some of my work time too) to them. When the squad started to diminish I was a TSGT with them. A trainer. A recruiter. I also was the goofy guy that made people laugh when they needed it! My unit of choice was the original "sapper" with 4 heat charges, rifle, nades, and smoke. I was quite deadly at one time with it and with the amount of time I played the unit and the number of et kills (sometimes over an hour walk away from a target where big guns like to hide) I jokingly take some credit for the units nerfing.....there isn't a lot of things more enjoyable than sapping a tank that just drove an hour or two to a "perfect spot" and I flame them a few seconds later. Especially when it's a top tanker (like bronco69 use to be). I am also very knowledgeable about the para class and a specific jump style that gets you through flak traps in a hurry and minimal time in the air. It's tricky but it's an adrenaline rush when it's done correctly. You meat bomb once in a while too.....LOL
In real life I am 46 years old. I am married and have been for 20 years......but we've been together for over 30. I have two sons, one is 15 and a sophomore in HS and my youngest is 10 and in 3rd grade. I have done a little of everything in my professional life. I was an Avionics Tech for 8 years (aircraft electronics). I managed the shop for a year before moving on because of a major change in the company and a buy out. I then worked as a auto mechanic for a buddy of mine for 4 years before moving back "home" and starting my own auto mech shop. I owned and ran it for 11+ years on my own. I started having early symptoms of severe arthritis and my hands and joints were starting to take a beating. Soon I developed a frozen shoulder where I couldn't use my right arm for 3 months. The pandemic hit about the time I started physical therapy and I had trouble getting work done (big jobs that actually pay the bills) so the shop started to sort of eat itself. I ran it on pride for a year, but found out that pride simply doesn't pay the bills. I had an opportunity come around and an opening at the local phone/internet/tv company fell out right before me. I drug my feet but with the pushing of my mother I applied and got the job. I've been a Combo Tech for them for 7 months now and LOVE it! We are a fiber company so I get to work with fiber a lot and do home installs and about everything else you can imagine.
I'm not looking for sympathy but a note for you in case I am absent from time to time is that my mother has terminal cancer right now. 8 months ago she didn't feel good and went to doctor. Found out she has liver, colon, and lung cancer. They gave her 3 days to live, but she's been fighting it now for 7 months. She's had 13 rounds of chemo plus a specialized radiation treatment in the liver lobes themselves. She's pretty tired.....and ultimately probably is fighting a fight she cant completely win, but she's trying. I just wanted it out there if something comes up suddenly and I am AWOL, but I'm pretty good about keeping everyone in the loop.
Going back to the game.....I am a real life private pilot. I have about 200 hours of flight time.....and it sort of helps my flying in game. I've done RDP raids a little but mostly air to air and air to ground ops. I am without a joystick atm, but plan on getting one soon. I love to tank too, but I use mouse and keyboard for tanking as I found I am way more accurate that way and quicker. I run AA guns with my mouse for aiming for the same reason.
That's a big wall of text, but since a lot of you don't know me at all I thought I'd air it all out. If you have any other questions.....ask me. I love to talk but I battle comms pretty dang good too!
Enjoy playing with you guys. I've been impressed with the quality of players you have and they all seem like good people too.....Except that Doom guy seems a little sketchy.....
See you in game soon!
S!
